Class 3 recently completed their Building Main Lesson, and they displayed their shelters for the school community today. They experimented with different materials and building styles and let their creativity shine!

A home provides shelter and protection, creating a safe place apart from the world.

As the Class 3 child continues to move through the nine-year change, an inner need arises in them to build and create their own safe spaces. Creating a shelter allows this impulse to have a creative outlet.

Yesterday Class 10 set out on their Overland adventure!

This long hike is the culmination of the Outdoor Education program - the students apply all their prior learning to move through and appreciate the beautiful Tasmanian wilderness.

Class 7 recently returned from their Maria Island Camp, situated off the usually dry East Coast of Tasmania.

This year, stormy weather tested the students' tents and gear - as well as their resilience and resolve.

The heavy rains resulted in lots of card games and journal writing by the fireside. The students even shared their space with a brown bandicoot, who was also sheltering from the weather ☔

The Maria Island Camp aims to build up the students' competence for overnight camping, cooking experiences, and coping skills while carrying a back pack with all but the 'kitchen sink" on their backs!

Well done, Class 7!

Class 9 had a wonderful week exploring the diverse landscapes of Tasmania during their Geomorphology camp.

We emerged from from the limestone caves and travelled to the glacial tarns considering the processes that shape our unique Tasmanian landscape.

Working as field scientists we learnt some plant names and considered how rock formations could tell us secrets of how the earth moves and changes slowly over geological time (that is...very slowly).
