With the kind assistance of Julie in the library we are setting up a permanent filing cabinet of P&F information. So, if you have an activity or class manual – for a camp or Spring fair activity for example, please check and update details and bring them into the office for collection.
If you feel you need to keep a copy, let me know—Rachel Abberton 62679578 raa@postoffice.utas.edu.au

Thanks to the small group that attended a lovely evening of crafting in Pipit.
Our next craft evening will be on the 28th June in Pipit. Do come and join us for an evening of simple craft activities in preparation for the Children’s Tent at the Spring Fair.
Please bring simple sewing kit if you have one. All activities will be suitable for all levels of experience. Cake and tea provided.
We are looking for an enthusiastic crafty person who would like to organise craft for the fair. Call Rachel 62679578 or Jen 62296972 to discuss.
We would love to have a volunteer so that we do not lose this wonderful part of our fair.

As part of the celebrations for the National Year of Reading 2012, Tarremah’s contribution to this serial narrative was published in The Mercury on Tuesday 15 May. We were delighted that Class 9 student Rosalia Lonergan was the featured
author, and also congratulate all her classmates on a rich collaboration of ideas during this creative writing activity.
You can read Rosalia’s chapter on Page 30 of Tuesday’s Mercury, or online at http://mercurynie.com.au/
It was cold outside but, inside the Hall, the competition was hot as teams battled it out for the honour and the glory (and the prizes) at the Class 9 Quiz Night. Fun and frivolity was the order of the evening with everyone relaxed and ready for a good time. More
Class Four have just finished the history of writing main lesson – The Writers Craft. The children learnt about the development of writing and writing materials through some practical activities such as collecting clay to make a tablet for Cuneiform writing and making a quill pen and their own ink. We focused on developing our handwriting styles and the children are working towards being able to use a fountain pen for their written work. It was interesting to look around our classroom and see just how much of the physicality of the room and the things in it are a direct result of the development of writing. Desks, blackboard and chalk, books and book shelves, pens, pencils, erasers and so on. I noticed a general overall development in the content and presentation of the children’s writing even though these things were not directly taught during this main lesson. For me this is another example of the “hidden” curriculum at work. The children seem to have developed a feeling of respect and gratitude for the human endeavour that has given us this wonderful tool for communication and self expression.
